NCTriangle Apprenticeship Program   ... the degree that pays ... the other four-year degree

For Schools

Whether you are involved with a public, private, charter or home school, your primary purpose is to prepare young people for adulthood and careers. In today's technological world and global economy, post-secondary education is a prerequisite for most professions. In contrast to the United States, where attention has been focused on four-year college programs following high school graduation, in other developed nations the majority of young people enter a career through an apprenticeship.  They do not choose an apprenticeship due to low grades or lack of funds for college, but because an apprenticeship gives them the best start to their careers.  Many are given management responsibilities at an early age and climb quickly in the ranks. NCTAP will provide your best 11th and 12th grade students with real-world experience, a significant income and a free college degree starting already in high school. For this reason, an apprenticeship through NCTAP has rightfully earned the title of "the other four-year degree".

The value of an NCTAP apprenticeship is on average $150,000 - about twice that of a full-ride scholarship at four-year colleges. Plus, NCTAP Apprentices are guaranteed a job at the end! For this reason, NCTAP attracts some of the finest young talent from area schools.

How can your school participate in the year-long selection process?

  • Attend the annual NCTAP School Counselor Luncheon
  • Host a NCTAP visit at your school in the fall
  • Send your best students to a NCTAP Partner Facility Tours in the winter - CTE/CDC counselors and CTE teachers and their classes are welcome to attend.
  • Selected candidates will attend a week-long, after-school Orientation in the spring following these tours.
  • The best students will attend a paid pre-apprenticeship during the summer.
  • Apprenticeships usually begin with the start of students' senior HS year

See the NCTAP Timeline on the Events page for more details. For your school to participate in NCTAP, simply contact us to express your interest.  An NCTAP partner will handle the rest.
